San Vicente fue y es un gran productor de caña de azúcar y en consecuencia panela; otros territorios como San Rafael Obrajuelo, Zacatecoluca, producían añil. Los esclavos por su altura y fuerza, se usaron como un objeto para la producción en obrajes de añil y producción de caña.
