Survey #demographics confirm what we know: refugees are overwhelmingly (>90%) #female, and half or more are at least 36 years old. Most (60%) have arrived with #children under the age of 18; yet also have members of immediate #family back home. 2/

In #Poland (25%) and #Romania (21%) there is "fear that the current country of residence will be attacked by Russia". This #fear appears only among 5% of those living in Czechia. In RO concern over the lack of means for #subsistence (35%) and #medical treatment/care (23%). 4/10

The #refugees surveyed are extremely well-educated, with 53, 45 and 64%, respectively, having completed a university degree. About one third
in each country are highly #skilled professionals, teachers and educational professionals. 5/10

Unlike those surveyed in Poland and the Czech Republic, Ukrainian refugees in #Romania point to the country’s membership in #NATO as one of the main reasons for choosing Romania (64%). This fact plays a key role in the light of forced migration dictated by armed conflict. 6/10

A majority (55%) of Ukrainian #refugees in #Romania reside in an apartment supported by aid organisations/gov.; 26% in #Czechia, where 18% rent an apartment on their own. In both countries 1/8 stay in a temporary refugee facility; ~19% w/ friends. 7/10 #UkrainianRefugeeCrisis

More than half (52%) of Ukrainian refugees in the #CzechRepublic say they would like to take up #employment. These figures are also confirmed by gov. data according to which at the end of May more than 50,000 refugees had found work in the country. 8/10

The majority of the #refugees in #Poland want to #return to Ukraine immediately after the end of military operations (56%), but every third respondent declares a desire to stay longer. Ukrainian refugees in #Romania are least likely to return immediately (47%) & many don't know.

Almost 1/5 of #Ukrainian #refugees in #Romania intend to move to other countries. Main destinations are Poland (30%), Italy (22%) and the Czech Republic (19%). The position of #Poland as a #destinationcountry may result from a relatively good knowledge of Polish (34%). 10/10
