1. Yesterday, during the #Economic #Forum in #Karpacz #Poland, Jaroslaw #Kaczynski uttered categorical words: "Western #Europe is culturally alien to us".
Let us take Kaczynski's words as an opportunity to recall an extremely important thread.
Let us recount what he said.
2. You can see #Kaczynski during discussion panel together with MEPs @ZdzKrasnodebski and Ryszard Legutko, his two main informal advisors on ideological and international issues.
"The threat to our sovereignty from the West is greater than from the East." - claimed Krasnodebski.
3. A lot of attention has been paid to #Kaczynski's shoes, but - let's face it - while embarrassing, that's not what's most important
4. Why does #Kaczynski regard the West as culturally unfamiliar? He said he visited #Vienna 33 yrs ago, and he saw it for himself. Though he didn't want to talk about what he specifically saw there, he hinted that there's an anti-culture and new totalitarianism. Ring a bell?
5. According to #Kaczynski, there's an illusory idealism in the West, whereby professed values are just a cover for interests pursued by various forces acting overtly and covertly. Idealism is thus instrumentalised, and this instrumentalisation is stronger than belief in ideas.
6. On #Kaczynski's view, the truth is now being revealed: the #German Chancellor Olaf #Scholz wants to build a "#superstate of global importance under German leadership". - "He who is stronger is better, this German concept applies" - he concluded.
Ring a bell?
7. Like #Dugin, #Kaczynski tries to weave his theories into a historical context. He calls up a book #Mitteleuropa (1915) by Friedrich Naumann to prove that Poland is supposed to be independent but de facto subordinate to Germany so that it doesn't beat Germany economically.
8. MEP #Krasnodebski who was present at the panel, had spoken in a similar manner two weeks earlier:
"Of course Russia is brutal, Russia can declare war on us. But the Poles know in a spiritual or psychological sense how to deal with such a danger."

9. He went on:
"#Putin does not divide us, but unites us. The #EU, on the other hand, uses completely different means. Rather by incentives, money, soft power, certainly by its very attractiveness. To deal with it requires a greater organisational & intellectual effort."
10. The other MEP, #Legutko, ironically commented: "The communists also wanted to do well, but it didn't work out for them - Today the communists feel in the EU like in paradise. The EU is the perfect place for commie."

11. To give you a foretaste who MEP #Legutko really is like, let me quote his words aired on the radio (May 15th, 2019):
"More than 80% of clergy sexual abuse cases involve boys aged 12-17. - Is it paedophilia? No, it's simply pederasty!"

12. According to MEP #Legutko, the EU has democratic standards "like #BurkinaFaso or #Zimbabwe". The #RuleOfLaw means "notorious circumvention of treaties" and #freedom means "stifling and institutionalised political correctness".
Again: sounds familiar?

Sorry for that, just too much #Russia here.
14. "We had to enter the EU in order to thrive and develop," explained disarmingly frank Jarosław #Kaczynski.
- "For 20 years we failed to build motorways and the EU provided us with the funds".
- "The EU has helped us when it comes to the dire situation in the countryside".
15. "But after all, we cannot tell our closest allies (🇺🇸🇬🇧) while facing the threat from the East and the Russian aggression against Ukraine to undo the cultural change at home and only then will we work with them" - finished Kaczynski.
Can't we?
