I’ve long thought Valve should curate Steam for quality, but certainly never for content.

They had a choice: Feel the wrath of those who want to endlessly moralize and censor content, or feel the wrath of those who actually buy & play games from Steam.

Seems they chose wisely.
By ducking out of choosing right or wrong apart from blatant illegality, Valve has wisely extracted themselves from the brewing culture war AND gets to avoid the tit-for-tat nature of online outrage, which would inevitably consume them.

It’s just smart business, in my opinion.
Folks are too focused on the fringes (I certainly think some of these fringe games are atrocious), and not on where moralizing would end up: Eating away at the middle. Look at the way a totally normal game like Far Cry 5 was treated, and you can see why they want no part of this.
