Earlier we mentioned that it's the birthday of romance writer Cathie Linz (1954-2015). Linz wrote her first novel, Remembrance of Love, while a law librarian at Northern Illinois University. It was published by Dell in 1982. Our collection includes this manuscript:

If you're on Alaska twitter, you've probably seen tweets like this from the Stand for AK campaign. This is going to be a really important ballot measure in November, so please take a second to read through this thread and rt.
The Stand for AK campaign is against Prop One, which is the Stand for Salmon initiative. Right now, the permit application process for development on AK land is way too easy for corporations to manuever - they get permits very easily.
The law states that unless fish have been proven to reside in waters, the assumption is that there are no fish in waters. This means that Fish and Game biologists have to fly out and catch two fish to prove that fish exists in waterways.

Much before ‘Satya’ (1998) which celebrates 20 years of existence today, came ‘Shiva’ (1990). There is a scene in ‘Shiva’ in which Nagarjuna breaks a cycle chain and uses it as a weapon to fight the goons. Like me, there were many young boys, who went home after watching the film
and tried to break their cycle chain only to realize that they were fooled by this new director called Ram Gopal Varma. Much later when I got a chance to work with him, the first thing I told him is how he had fooled us in ‘Shiva’. The cycle chain doesn’t break.
RGV just smiled and in his inimitable style said “Thanks!”

He was an unstoppable force in the 90’s. Hitting sixers, film after film. Before ‘Satya’, he made around 10 films but three films stood out amongst the ten. First was ‘Raat’ (1992) - a game changer in the horror genre.
