But Dayton is just being silly when he says no one in the industry thought Escobar and Cain would be offensive players. Escobar was a Top-20 prospect by BA and BP just a year before.

(Also, we should probably point out that Escobar never really did hit - he's never had an above-average major league season with the bat. His value was all speed, positional value, and defense. Which might apply to Blake Perkins, but not Kelvin Gutierrez.)
