What a worthless response to a response. Typical for CIS. It almost entirely doubles down on the fact-free, data-free claims that I already responded to.
I listed specific individuals in the report itself. In my response to CIS’s criticism, I listed many more specific cases—apparently CIS authors refuse to read.
This is false. CIS alleged an ICE supervisory agent intentionally misled the court under oath about why agents cancel detainers for people claiming US citizenship to avoid angering his higher ups. CIS has total trust in ICE agents until what they say conflicts with its narrative

At the San Ysidro port of entry the current wait list for asylum seekers is over 1,000, according to lawyers who work with them. A family I spoke with was told they had to wait 3-4 weeks before their number was called.
Nicole Ramos, an attorney with Al Otro Lado, which is suing the US govt over its practice of turning away asylum seekers at ports of entry expects wait times at these entrances will double under the administration’s new plan re asylum seekers at the border.
It’s not uncommon for asylum seekers waiting in Tijuana for the turn to be targeted by organized crime, Ramos said. Some people receive messages from the people they’re fleeing from telling them they know they’re in TJ saying “we’re waiting for you.”

2/ 1st, this is not exactly an executive order. That's coming later, via "Presidential proclamation"--obvs a totally cool & normal way to make things happen in a democracy

This "final interim rule" skips usual due process and goes into effect NOW, because #MigrantCaravan
3/ N.B.: This doesn't complete cut off all possibility of legal protection for #asylum seekers. "Withholding of removal" (a form of relief I like to call "asylum lite") and protection under the Convention Against Torture remain. That's not to say that this is necessarily OK.

A quick guide to the Trump administration’s ever-changing, contradictory and false excuses/outright lies for ripping innocent children away from their parents and then holding them hostage:
Excuse 1: “The Democrats have to change their law.” Even if it were true that such a law existed (it isn't & it doesn't) or that Dems wrote it (also a lie), Trump’s party still controls both chambers in Congress—and therefore controls what votes take place
Excuse 2: “#CHANGETHELAWS” We want to, but even if we do it doesn’t excuse the immoral & inhumane way the Trump administration is treating kids. If Congress acts today, this administration will still be responsible for the inexcusable child abuse that’s taken place in recent wks

I'm going to go through some fact regarding the law and situation on the border one last time since at least a couple of people still care about the truth instead of just using this issue to get in your political attack:
1) Family separations are not new for those caught at the border. They are a byproduct of the parents being charged with unlawful entry and a law which prevents kids from being held in those same detention centers.
2) What is new: The Trump admin has declared a 0 tolerance policy for those that cross the border illegal, charging all of them with unlawful entry.. even those who claim to be asylum seekers. They claim this is an attempt at deterrence.
