1. I'm keeping score, Brad.

Your opus contains serious factual errors.

Let's begin.
2. You report that Chelsea Rooney was the one who came forward with MC's rape allegation.

You got that wrong.
3. @chelrooney tells me: "I was not the person who brought MC’s rape allegations to UBC; MC did that." I independently verified this. MC went to UBC at the urging of a faculty member.

This botched detail collapses your characterization of Rooney as puppet-master against Galloway
4. You also report that Chelsea Rooney was the one who brought Galloway's voicemail to UBC.

You got that wrong, too.
5. Chelsea Rooney says, "I was also not the person who gave UBC SG’s voicemails; MC did that." I verified this as well. MC gave UBC the voicemails when UBC faculty asked her to.
6. Brad, what's most wrong about your investigation of the Galloway case is this: you wait until you are 8300 words into it before you reveal that YOU WERE A LEADER OF THE CAMPAIGN TO EXONERATE GALLOWAY.
7. You named #UBCAccountable. You published #UBCAccountable. You were literally a pro-Galloway activist. You then approached his accusers as an investigative reporter trying to document his case. It is *not* shocking that they declined to speak with you.
8. You present their refusals to talk with you BEFORE you reveal that you were a leading advocate of the man who they say abused them.
9. No competent or ethical editor should have let you report this story, Brad, at least not without a huge conflict disclosure at the top. You are IN this story. You have an interest in it.
10. It's not just a question of your bias. Your involvement & agenda meant that key people wouldn't talk to you, so you could not properly verify & fact-check. And that's a generous way of explaining your errors.
11. Of course your editor, @jonkay, is also spreading misinformation about this case. He says, "MC was not Steve's student."

Jon, you got that wrong.
12. Brad & Jon have been congratulating each other for days. Jon called their piece "definitive" and RTd a guy who says they deserve a Pulitzer. If it's the definitive account explaining why Galloway was fired, strange that these previously reported details were omitted:
( source for the above: theglobeandmail.com/news/british-c… )
13. Finally: many well-known journalists & others shared & celebrated @bradcran's piece. Now that they know how much false information it contains, I think they should also share these corrections to it. Namely: @nytdavidbrooks @jordanbpeterson @blatchkiki (cont'd)
15. One last error to point out, brad. Not a factual error, but one in judgment. Dude.
(I confirmed that MC was Steven Galloway's student in a 2010 undergrad class and a 2011 grad class, and then into her MFA. She was his student at the time of the alleged sexual harassment & the alleged sexual assaults.)
