My job for the family Thanksgiving dinner is to make a potato salad with peas and corn. Does anyone have tips for how to make it extra delicious? 🍁 #Thanksgiving
Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll drop the corn, and add dill pickles and chopped sweet apples. But sister’s kids have kiboshed the boiled eggs idea. I’ll go with mayo and sour cream, and some vinegar. Good to know there are so many options!
Oh, and Dijon mustard!

My mother, with her broken foot, showed up tonight with two big boxes of food. Instead of resting her foot, she baked a turkey, made dressing, veggies, mashed potatoes, gravy, jello w/ pears like when I was a kid, a tub of my favorite olives, a can of cranberry (more)
De-canned and in her GOOD TUPPERWARE, no less. Also a can of whipped cream a pumpkin pie for my best friend James, who rents our first floor, and a cheese cake for Mike. An entire cheesecake. "I brought you half a turkey, I hope that's enough." (more)
Me: You didn't have to do so much work!
Mom: I realized yesterday I was the only one in my family who was alone.
Me: We were going to see you, you just weren't going to cook!
Mom: Enjoy your dinner!
Me: (bringing out her box) Here is a ham, a bottle of wine (more)

To @sunrisemvmt: we see that you have endorsed @RepDebHaaland for Secretary of the Interior. We believe that she can be a strong candidate, but only if she is accountable for her anti-Freedmen legislation and stands up against Jim Crow in Indian Territory.…
We must protect our planet, but you cannot allow your climate change activism to be complacent with apartheid and disenfranchisement of the descendants of enslaved people owned by Native American masters. We must be treated equally and Deb Haaland has undermined us in legislation
If you believe that #ALLBlackLivesMatter, including #BlackNatives, please call for @Deb4CongressNM to meet the demands of our petition as a part of your endorsement. All Natives should be treated with dignity and respect.

Today, we unapologetically thank God for America. We thank Him for the blessings of liberty & remember the Americans before us who risked everything to settle, work, & defend this land – all so that we might live free... (1/5) #HappyThanksgiving #StandUpForAmerica

...Today, we recall the first recorded Thanksgiving - in Virginia – where after a decade of suffering & struggle in which 450 of 500 settlers at Jamestown perished in the first 2 yrs; suffering from Malaria, starvation, & battles w/ local Powhatans, the people persevered.. (3/ 5)

1/ Here's the latest chapter in my #COVID19 drama.

On Saturday, I tested POSITIVE on a #PCR test.

Was I reinfected?

2/ As some of you might recall, I had a brutal case of #COVID19 in the fall. I spent 17 days hospitalized at @NYULangone, including almost a week in the ICU on a ventilator.

#COVID #Covid_19 #COVID__19 #coronavirus #CoronavirusPandemic
3/ But the idea of having #COVID19 again surprised me, for a number of reasons.

First, reinfection is rare. And I was tested at the same time for #COVID antibodies, and I was still positive.

A thread for Thanksgiving:
When I was a kid I told my mother that I didn’t think anyone would ever love me enough to want to marry me. 1/7
When I was a teenager I considered marrying my first boyfriend — who was awful — even though I didn’t love him. (“I’ll have kids,” I told myself, “and I’ll love *them*.”) 2/7
In my early twenties I considered marrying a man who I’m fairly certain cheated on me because I figured I wouldn’t be lucky enough to convince a *third* person to date me. 3/7

While we think of Thanksgiving as an American holiday, we don't have the market cornered on harvest celebrations.

I explored autumn festivals from around the world in this series for @rosettastone , including sharing traditional recipes.
(2) First up we have Sukkot, a biblically-based holiday sometimes called the Festival of Booths where Jewish people celebrate the exodus of the Israelites and the bounty God provided.

Also, there's challah with honey and I'm ALWAYS down for that.…
(3) Next we have Olivagando. Italians celebrate la dolce goccia or the “sweet drop" with a fall festival. I chat with @chefchuck1 about why Italians value olive oil and how to choose a good one.

I also made a very pretty olive oil cake. You're welcome.…

It’s nice to be courteous and the best thing it doesn’t cost...
I list below Some #TooGoodNotToShare and #SimpleWaysToShowCourtesy AND DIGNITY..

1 In case you miss a call, drop a message as soon as possible if you're unable to call back
2 Pay back borrowed money as soon as possible no matter how little the amount is. Do not opt to clear your personal needs first at the cost of your lender's personal needs. IT'S BAD MANNERS!
Don't assume that they don't need it, and never make them ask you for it
3 Do not ask for a lift & make the person wait for you.Instead, position yourself at a convenient place so that they do not have to divert from their route
4 Turn volume down if watching video, playing music or playing game on your phone in a public place or better, use headphones

1) 4,400 words long—7,600 w/amendments—& just four simple pages, our Constitution is the oldest—and shortest—written one in the world.

Nothing more important than the creation of those four pages has occurred in our history as a nation. #HappyThanksgiving…
2) Our United States is a Constitutional Republic—characterized by a constitutionally limited government—with powers separated between three branches: executive, legislative, and judicial.
3) This structure was created precisely because our Founding Fathers were acutely aware of the dangers inherent in a pure democracy.

As John Adams famously noted, “There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.”

Before you set off to celebrate with family, friends, and loved ones, I wanted to let you know how thankful I am for all of you.

Together, we did something amazing this year–we won back a Majority in the House. Come January, that Majority will fight for our values & priorities.
We must remember all those who cannot spend this day with their families. For all our military men and women fighting to protect our liberty, and all the family members who love and support them, we will be forever thankful for your sacrifices.
I hope everyone has a safe and #HappyThanksgiving –NP

We thank God for our country, which is a beacon of freedom for the world, and for the generations of men and women who have stood, and continue to stand ready to defend it.
This tradition of gratitude, first practiced by the Pilgrims following their courageous journey to the New World, has been woven into the very fabric of our nation.
