Need to hear more about the graphic designer on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's campaign because her main poster was stirring as hell -- it manages to feel both vintage without being cheesy and modern without being dry
One thing our modern political sphere feels so inept at is the imagery and aesthetics of politics -- if the Left can corner the market on stirring, galvanizing, eye-catching imagery? What an edge
You can write the most comprehensive and powerful policy proposals you want, but if you don't have the visual ability to gain an audience and make your core message understood, you're in serious trouble.
(This is also the reason doing most of your political engaging on Twitter is such a bad call -- aside from it being an unpopular platform, it's also very clunky and text-based. You would have an infinitely easier time converting people and getting your message out on Instagram.)
Also, apparently the designer was a woman named Maria Arenas, and all of her work is stunning: maaarenas.com
This is also extremely true and part of the aesthetics question: dressing in a way that conveys seriousness, leadership, and -- yes -- beauty has always been an extremely powerful tool in politics.
The idea that it is somehow more politically pure for a true progressive to not care about appearance, or to even actively look disheveled, isn't just wrong -- it's completely shooting ourselves in the foot. Guys in tattered hoodies shouldn't be the face of the Left
