1. Democrats don't just want unfettered illegal immigration for votes. It's much more than that. Leftists hate the very idea of "nation." Why? Short answer: As Kenneth Waltz noted, nationalism is stronger than ideology. Long answer: In his seminal work on nationalism...
2. Long answer: In his seminal work on nationalism (Imagined Communities), Benedict Anderson set out to answer how "nationalism has proved an uncomfortable anomaly for Marxist theory." Thomas Nairn, the heir to Marist/Leftist theory in the 20th...
3. Thomas Nairn, the heir to Marist/Leftist theory in the 20th... conceded that "nationalism represents Marxism's great historical failure." Waltz explains more by using socialists in France, Germany and other Europeans during the Second World War. Bottom line: They learned...
4. Bottom line: Leftists learned from the 20th century that nationalism overcomes ideology. E.. French socialists still saw themselves as "Frenchman" instead of fellow socialists, collectivist brothers with the Nazi regime...
5. That's obviously just one example. But leftwing intellectuals believe their collective utopia can only come to fruition by eradicating the very idea of "nation." An ideology that thrives on balkanization simply cannot have shared suffering, glory and pride among the citizenry.
6. The American national identity really has to go for their utopia to exist because, whether we consciously realize it or not, that identity was forged from the Protestant ethic, Natural Law and common law. And the product is and always was VERY anti-statism.
7. Per #3, Kenneth Waltz didn't just limit that application to one war. It's a heavy read, but it's damn good and an important staple in theories spanning from INR to political philosophy. Btw, he wrote it was a thesis first. His wife helped him. It was brilliant work.
8. Btw, as even statist Nairn admits, it's all flawed. Anderson noted leftist states still became nationalistic, or "sick" as Nairn put it, over time. Nationalism was "modernity gone wrong" and Marxism is "modernity gone right." Sound familiar? It should. Because...
9. Because none of this is new or "progressive," it's old & regressive. It's Anthropological regression. The American identity represented true "progress," something that produced stronger individuals, communities and civil societies; something that no longer needs a master.
10. The bigger government becomes, the weaker civil society becomes, the weaker communities become and the weaker the individual becomes. That's when the Crisis and Leviathan comes for you.
