We start this thread with a bit of a funny. Avenatti tweets out a pic posted by Q the night before & asks who he is...interesting, right? Wait, it gets better, we've uncovered another interesting story here. Waiting on WaPo could prove futile, their schtick that day? #FakeNews
In order to tell our story on the man in the pic though, we have to go back a few years... To the Gotti trial of all places. Wait, who is Gotti calling a punk? The book should have been titled "The Deep State Crime Syndicate" ... just saying.
Back to the man in the pic... actually, this one was much easier than the one of John Key in the last one. His story though...whew...He was never accepted by the NY Mafia... so he joined the Albanian Mafia...the one OUR gov't prefers to work with. #MadeMan vs #RemadeMan here
Kind of getting fed up with the trolling I’m seeing on “this side” of things. MAGAts are one thing – we’re likely to always disagree, and I have filters set up to mute their insults.
Trolling from so-called Resistance is completely unhelpful. Enough with the #FakeResistance.
We should be giving each other the benefit of the doubt, not throwing around insults or “corrections” and then blocking at the first sign of debate.
If we can’t even be civilised amongst ourselves, then we’re in deep trouble.
I put a lot of time and energy into this. If I DM you, it’s for good reason. Ask as many questions as you like and don’t just accept my word for things. But also don’t insult me and block me because you can’t be bothered trying to understand what I’m letting you know.
Release: Because for-profit or military imprisonment is unnecessary and illegal
Represent: Because represented children and families have a 96% court appearance rate and are 400% more likely to win their claims for relief
Reunify: Because we can do it faster than the government
Unemployment in the United States is below 4%. The reduction in unemployment resulted partially from a fall in labor force participation, which hit a three-month low of 62.8%.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics expects the participation-rate reduction to continue, due to an aging US population. Therefore, the overall unemployment rate is likely to fall further, perhaps reaching 3.7% in 2019, according to FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast.
Immigrants have historically filled the gap between aging, retiring Americans, and the work-age contributors. How does this fit with the republicans wanting to "ban" all immigrants??
@waltshaub 1/ It's not over by a longshot. He has created an abusive relationship with America. If you've experienced abuse or worked with those who have been abused, it's blatantly obvious. Choose your target and find their soft spot. Use flattery, gifts, etc. to win them over.
@waltshaub 2/ Inflate yourself to seem more appealing to them, paint yourself as their knight in shining armor who can solve their problems. Isolate them by explaining how nobody else understands and/or highlight flaws in "others". Get them to depend on you as much as possible.
@waltshaub 3/ As their dependence grows, remind them how lucky they are to have you, how they should be loyal to you because of all your "sacrifice". If they show signs of resistance, remind them that they owe it all to you and would be nothing without you.
Here is a letter my client Levis just wrote to her 6 yr old son Samir, whom she has not seen or comm with in over 2 weeks. They told her he was being taken for a “bath” & would be brought right back. He is a gentle boy and very attached to his mother. She is terrified. #Basta
In the thread that follows, I will post a translation of my client Levis’s letter. It is one story among thousands.
“To: Samir The love of my life.
From: your mom. The love of your life.
Hello my love how are you? I hope you are doing well, just want to tell you that everything is ok, I am sorry my son about everything that is going on, this separation hurts my soul…”
As a fmr immigration attorney let me be unambiguously clear. Crossing a boarder to claim asylum is *not* a crime; no under US or international law. Any child separated from a parent under that pretext is done so in direct contravention to the laws of the USA. ⚖ THREAD Pls RT.
If you came to the US without permission to apply for asylum, youmetjod of entry, whether legal or illegal *should* in no way effect your application process. Illegal entry is not a ground of inadmissibility for asylum applicants.
Unlike many other categories of applicants for immigration benefits, ppl seeking asylum in the US are not barred by having made an illegal entry; for example, sneaked across the U.S. border or overstaying a valid visa (one of the top ways people are in the country illegall).
The horrific #Goodlatte#immigration bill soon up for debate isn't something to be "compromised" with. It's a harsh, intentional, irrevocable shift Trumpward.
Burn the ashes.
Scatter them upon the Antarctic plains.
Here are just a few of many reasons.
(1) CRIMINALIZATION of unlawful presence in the United States: White supremacy writ into law. For past 228 years, simply *being in U.S.* w/o permission was a civil offense w/no consequence other than deportation.
(NB: This was quickly rejected in 2005, but much more likely now)
(2) ONE HUNDRED THIRTY BILLION UNITED STATES TAXPAYER DOLLARS to fully militarize the Mexican border.
Even @Heritage, which otherwise mostly likes the bill, balked at this as "hard to justify." You don't say.
“Cruelty is both the means and the end. It’s the thread that runs through ICE’s strategy of instilling terror in immigrant communities, Department of Homeland Security’s restrictive approach to refugees and asylum-seekers, the White House’s decision to…”
“Cruelty is [Trump’s reason behind] the White House’s decision to rescind temporary protected status for hundreds of thousands of settled immigrants, Sessions’s decision to reopen 350,000 cases for potential deportation, and much more.” #AbolishICE
You sure about that @MichaelAvenatti “no pending disciplinary proceedings against you” did @StateBarCA not receive a complaint about you? Is your former law partner Jason Frank not suing you? Unpaid taxes ring a bell or maybe #TullysCoffee ? Judge Wood must be smarter than this?
2. In case people forgot about Kushner And Flynn meeting with Kislyak in Dec. 2016, see here. And this was BEFORE Obama imposed sanctions on Russia on Dec. 29 and Flynn called Kislyak to reassure him. So... an interesting date.
Warning ignored. So here it goes.
December 12, 2016 - Trump Tower. Details to follow...
And to be clear - by “warning ignored” I am referring to the refusal of various parties to come clean and the failure of various parties and news outlets to stop with the personal attacks on our side. Keep pushing us. #consequences#basta
Why was Ahmed Al-Rumaihi meeting with Michael Cohen and Michael Flynn in December 2016 and why did Mr. Al-Rumaihi later brag about bribing administration officials according to a sworn declaration filed in court?
‘None of this means that either the Prague or prostitutes allegation is true. But why can’t Cohen and Trump get their respective stories straight?’ motherjones.com/politics/2018/…
‘Cohen’s abandonment of this action means that the legal teams for Fusion GPS and BuzzFeed will no longer have the opportunity in the discovery phase to demand information from Cohen regarding his whereabouts and contacts during the 2016 campaign’, writes @DavidCornDC.
Michael Cohen Has Said He Would Take a Bullet for Trump. Maybe Not Anymore. nyti.ms/2vuwhYZ
Cohen’s in-laws from Ukraine, purchased 3 Trump apartments from 2003-2005, for nearly $8 million. His personal wealth has taken a drop in recent years, due to millions in taxi medallions, which have lost value. The medallions have been refinanced, and loan due to bank in 2019.
1. BREAKING: looks like Trump's picciotto Michael Cohen was THREATENING an agent, Gina Rodriguez, with ending her career, in 2011, if she went forward with plan to allow Stormy Daniels to tell her story re: Trump.
2. Gina Rodriguez's ex husband, Randy Spears, told WaPo the whole story, as OOPSIE for Cohen, HE picked up the phone when Cohen called Rodriguez after she arranged for Stormy to tell her story to a celeb publication and earn $15k.
3. Cohen told Spears "You tell Gina that if she ever wants to work in this town again, she’ll call me immediately". Rodriguez, instead, called her lawyer.
