1/Respectfully @NPR I take issue with one sentence in this report: n.pr/2AALqsg Calling The Center for Immigration Studies “Nonpartisan” isn’t IMO accurate. #immigration
@NPR 2/The Center for Immigration Studies was founded by John Tanton, a man who at the very least pushed hard immigration polices and at worse is a white supremacist bit.ly/2AA83gm
@NPR 3/Krikorian quoted in your article as non partisan, said after the Haitian earthquake that crippled Haiti in 2010, "My guess is that Haiti’s so screwed up because it wasn’t colonized long enough,”
@NPR 4/There’s a long list of Krikorian & Tanton’s beliefs & actions. While they technically may not claim a party, they have most definitely have taken a side in issues of immigration.
@NPR 5/ By labeling them non partisan, a reader who doesn’t know CIS's history will not understand the context of their comments. As news orgs we should hear from dissenting voices, but we must be clear to our audience who those voices are. Respectfully, context is everything.
