so a few weeks ago I tweeted this about my aunt who lived in New Orleans. Even though she was family she was mean as hell and overall a very toxic person to be around. She would beat me and my cousins alot as children and she would always curse at us for no reason.
my aunt was into some weird shit. she owned an antique shop in New Orleans & she had a living space that was right under it. she would collected skulls and candles and set them up all around her house. My grandma thought she was heavy into witchcraft and didn’t want me over there

Y’all keep linking me that Kotaku piece on Riot Games culture and sexism asking for my thoughts, so I guess I’ll write you a thread.

I’ve read so many pieces like this. So. Many. I read them nowadays half-engaged because they all read the same, honestly.
Now, not to say it’s not a good piece of journalism or that they shouldn’t exist - they do. They put explicit pressure on companies to do better.

But to people like myself and other marginalised folks, this is just same old, same old.
Truth is: these articles exist more to educate men than anything else. Women’s pain in these articles exist to make you give a fuck, or at least try to, but evidently it’s not that simple and we’ll all gasp and be outraged for a little and that’s often it.

Please listen to trans men on TERFs, too. Lesbian TERFs claim a very creepy ownership of trans men. Fear of "losing sisters" among lesbians and "losing daughters" among religious parents account for a huge number of "peak trans" narratives.
"Peak trans" is what TERFs call their conversion moments, the thing that was a bridge too far. "I used to be a trans ally but then [something happened that personally affected me]."
If you read them, seriously 90% of it is "I was fine with being fine with trans people when it was all abstract and I could bask in the fuzzy feeling of being an accepting person without it actually affecting anything around me, but then trans people had to actually exist."

2. Essentially the only basis people have for choosing one applicant for the position of government over another is speech in all its various incarnations. Pictures, still and moving, words, however disseminated, ideas transmitted from person to person.
3. OK, that's obvious - people talk, people listen, people pay to get their messages out.
To use this "free" social medium I have to pay someone every month to give me the internet equivalent of dial tone: a connection to the outside world.
It's not free, to mean without cost.

(1) Today I'm celebrating the best Easter in my 48 years on this earth.

And I'm not even a Christian. But I'll tell you why I'm so grateful for the life and death of Jesus Christ, and those who follow him today, especially those in the USA.
(2) Some years ago I came across the online atheist community, and became very interested in their views and practices. During that time I opened this Twitter account, as a way to connect to that community. I keep the account bc changing the username is too much of a hassle now.
(3) I don't support the practice of assuming a person's beliefs and labeling them according to their Twitter username. I'm an agnostic, not an atheist. I don't believe in God, but I never rule anything out. Atheist SJWs are some of the biggest bullies online.
