This is Lonnie and Sandy. Their daughter Jessi was killed in the shooting at the movie theater in Aurora, Colorado. She was 24.
Jessi moved to Denver to study. She aspired to be a sports broadcaster and wrote a blog under the name Jessica Redfield.

She died in her sophomore year of college.
After that day, Lonnie and Sandy jumped into action. They fought for gun legislation reform. They fought for background checks. They fought to change they way we deal with firearms in our country.
All the work they did was hands on. Unable to afford a house or apartment, Lonnie and Sandy bought a trailer and travelled around the country to connect gun violence prevention coalitions to one another.
They started Survivors Empowered. This organization connects survivors of gun violence with other survivors, providing them with support and training to tell their stories in a compelling way.
Lonnie and Sandy have dedicated their lives to stopping these tragedies that plague our nation.

They do it so no one else loses their loved ones like they did.
