If I have time i am going to write an article on why Fayose lost
Ok I have time now ,I am going to briefly highlight factors that led to the failure of PDP in Ekiti.
Peter "The Rock "Fayose as he calls himself, came into political Limelight in 2003 after he defeated the Incumbent Governor Niyi Adebayo in April 2003 by a 51,000 voting margin
Fayose's tenure as Governor from 2003-2006 was full of controversy (typical of Fayose ).His deputy at the time was Mrs Biodun Olujimi,a present Senator in the 8th National Assembly.
Fayose was accused of Diverting 9.1m Naira State fund to build a House in Ibadan and using 2.1m Naira to buy his mother a Benz, he was impeached by the Ekiti House of Assembly for these allegations after he was found Guilty in 2006
It was also rumoured that Fayose sent Assassins to kill his closest rival in PDP, Late Ayo Daramola on Monday 14th August 2006,just 4 days after the Burial of Late Funsho Williams.
As a result ,Fayose's impeachment was widely welcomed,coupled with the fact he was very rude to his elders including President Obasanjo and Aare Afe Babalola.
After the impeachment,Fayose went on Political exile because he was wanted by the EFCC (Obasanjo's biggest political tool ).He however resurfaced in December 2007 after Obasanjo's tenure ended,a huge reception was held for him in Ekiti, his corruption case FHC was struck out also
The case was struck out because it was instituted in Lagos instead of Ekiti. Fayose however joined the now Defunct ACN,in preparation for the 2010 Governorship election in Ekiti.
Fayose was a staunch supporter of Fayemi (Yes Fayemi) in the build up to the 2010 elections in Ekiti, infact he wore Fayemi campaign shirts during his own father's burial.
As we all know Fayemi won that election,after Fayemi won the problems between the two men started ,Fayose defected to the Labour Party( in which he was a major financier ),to contest for Ekiti Central senatorial seat
Fayose lost to BAFEM of the now defunct ACN ,by a margin of 33k votes he(Fayose) alleged it was rigged .In 2012 Fayose returned to the PDP, it is important to note he was expelled from the party in 2006. On his return he claimed he made his earlier mistakes because of young age.
Fayose contested the primaries election of the PDP in 2014 and won although Adeyeye was widely expected to get the ticket because he was the leader of the PDP during the time of ACN dominance ,however It was expected Adeyeye was going to take over in 2018 .
Fayose NEVER gave Adeyeye any assurance of succeeding him. Fayose however won the election 16-0 although it was widely regarded to be rigged (Although I believe it was rigged but Fayose at the time was more loved by the people ).
Fayose's victory in 2014,was followed by PDP winning 25 out of the 26 House of Assembly seats in Ekiti House of Assembly by doing so they defeated ALL 24 incumbent APC HOA members,also Ekiti was the only SW state PDP won at the Presidential election.
After the election ,Fayose was seen as the" Numero Uno" in grassroot politics in Nigeria and he started to think he is untouchable politically. His PDP dominated HOA hold the record of being the ONLY State in Nigeria never to hold a State Executive meeting in the last 3 years
The downfall and apparent defeat of Fayose Dynasty started in 2015 after Buhari became President. He first started by making careless statements about President Buhari and bringing up false allegations against President Buhari.
Also people didn't like the fact that he spent more time in his Beautiful structural monumental edifice that he has in Magodo area (A highbrow Area in Lagos) Rather than in Ekiti that he Governs.
Also Fayose stopped the Free Education for Public School students in Ekiti which was brought by Governor Fayemi,he also introduced Child tax for Private school students and other Draconian laws in the State with the aid of his House of Assembly in Which he was like the Speaker.
On Feb 25th 2016,Fayose aided by Governor Wike assisted Senator Ali Modu Sheriff in becoming PDP chairman, this did not go down well with PDP leaders in the South West, this was his first issue with PDP South West leaders including Gov.Mimiko (As he then was)
After the Sheriff drama and subsequent removal of Sheriff on 12th July 2017 (I was part of the lawyers in the case 🙌🙌🙌) Fayose also supported Secondus to be PDP chairman over a South Western candidates so that he can be the VP candidate of the party 2019.
This didnt go down well with the party because when the party was formed on Tuesday 28th July 1998,Zoning formula was listed as one of objectives of the Party it is actually listed as the 7th objective of PDP in the Preamble of the Party constitution 2012 as amended.
As GEJ just finished his term it was only right that a Yoruba man becomes PDP chairman since Presidency was zoned to the North. As a result southern leaders like Bode George were angry with Fayose that he supported Secondus rather than a Yoruba candidate
On Friday the 8th of December 2017,Governor Wike was on Channels TV he said South West PDP leaders were unserious (which is true),this even made the leaders more angry with Fayose for supporting Wike and his Candidate, but Fayose didnt even care.
Next day was the Convention (December 9th), I was there i made this video of Governor Wike and Governor Okowa,at the Convention ground it was rumoured Fayose slashed the money meant for Ekiti delegates because to him an Ekiti man doesnt need such money
Secondus won the primaries unsurprisingly with over 2,000 votes this angered most Yoruba PDP South West leaders. After the Convention the next plan for PDP was how to win Ekiti Election
It is important to note that as far back as 2016, Fayose already said Eleka will be his successor and advised no one to contest against him ,which didn't go down very well with most party members because Adeyeye,Sen Olujimi and Even Segun Adewale (Osa pra pra) eyed the seat.
Fayose became arrogant forgetting his ordeals in 2006 and claimed he will produce all Ekiti Governors until he dies ,he believed he could do it all by himself and didnt need party members.
As a result of this important party members like Adeyeye left the party after he lost the primaries to Prof Eleka who was widely regarded as an unpopular candidate by some party members.
Segun Adewale defected to ADP,Senator Fatima Raji Rasaki defected to APC just like Adeyeye.79 councillors who helped the PDP in 2014 also defected, Some of Senator Olujimi's supporters moved to APC.
Some of the PDP members who stayed vowed to work against him (i highlighted this days before the election . 
Last year Fayose also publicly disgraced Olukere the Spiritual leader of Ikere .Ikere is the 2nd most populated LG In Ekiti and Hometown of Prof Eleka the PDP candidate. It is widely known that nobody messes with Olukere but Fayose locked him up for almost 2 months.
Fayose boys made mockery of Olukere ,to me this act of Fayose was a political own goal.
APC gave Baba Bisi (An Ado -Ekiti man), the Deputy Governorship ticket of the party which was a smart move to match PDP in Ado-Ekiti since Ado was a PDP stronghold .Fayose got 41k in Ado 2014 ,Fayemi got just 13k
Generally in Nigerian politics, the ruling party loses the capital most times because elites and people from diverse tribes live there, E.g Buhari won PDP in Abuja 2007, Suswan lost Markurdi 2011 ,So Fayemi losing Ado in 2014 by such margin was not a shock.
But Baba Bisi helped APC in Ado ,PDP won by just 4k votes compared to the 28k difference in 2014.
In Ikere,Olukere supported APC and as a result PDP had 17k votes while PDP had 11k ,this was a game changing move because PDP were projected to get 90 %of votes there since Eleka was from there but because of what Fayose did to Olukere, they got 60.4% votes in Ikere.
Fayose owed salaries for 5 months ,but on the eve of the elections he transferred 3k to civil servants and pensioners to induce them to vote PDP, this even angered them more.
Fayose told drivers not to move on the day Buhari came to town, plus he ordered a curfew Contrary to Section 41 of the 1999 constitution as amended,he promised drivers 10k if they didnt drive their cars all day. After the APC rally ,they went for their money but they were chased
His actions made some drivers decide to Vote APC.
Some might be wondering how Fayose managed to get so much crowd for the rally ,it was simple the crowd you saw were people he promised jobs and he further paid 1500 into their accounts as rally dues.
As a result of the above stated factors,Fayose lost his status as the best grassroot politician by neglecting people who helped him get into power and believing he could win by doing the barest minimum. The lesson here is that we should learn to be humble. THE END. God bless.
