Hi Times Higher Ed. Sociologist and woman-who-can-read here. That would not be a standard definition for the Millennial age range. While not always clear cut, this definition is closer to the emerging consensus: pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2018…
The year 2000 is the latest date used by respectable groups and agencies, which would make some current university students Millennials, but it's an increasingly minoritarian viewpoint.
And folks born between 1995 and 2000 may end up being an interstitial generation like those born between '78 and '83, who report feeling a sense of disconnection from both Millennials and GenX. Qualitative research in the near future will give us a clearer picture.
But none of this matters, because THE opted for a sensational non-definition that enabled them to leverage a popular clickbait theme. Fine, you do you. But it's rather embarrassing for a nominally academic forum, especially when the article in question complains about laziness.
