Blasphemy. The semicolon is the sexiest form of punctuation; it is the sweet inbetween.
Also a very sexy punctuation mark — it's true. Someone should make a calendar.
I do caution some sparseness with the semicolon whereas I use the em dash is like garlic: spread liberally throughout

I'm happy Crazy Rich Asians is doing so well at the box office but like it...I didn't...it wasn't my jam, personally
there were a lotta Male Writing Rom-Com tells in it, most notably the EXTREMELY PERFECT DUDE who was also completely trash and lied to her for their whole relationship but never had to deal with that fact at all and that bugged me :-/
I get that the tension and comedy of rom-coms is often premised on a lie, and I never care much for that aspect personally, b/c in real life a lie is a shoddy foundation to base a relationship on, but ok it's movies, relax, yeah yeah...

Very first sentence isn't even true, unless by "elites" you are excluding academia.

FP academia is dominated by realism. Neoconservatism and other forms of internationalists who cannot successfully defend thesis work go to D.C. where they are safe from intellectual shredding.
The only real debate is between offensive and defensive realism. For instance, Max and the rest of his Neocon crew push ideas that are based on flawed assumptions, such as "the democratic peace theory."

He's calling a debunked theory a "foreign policy consensus."
In order to make the democratic peace theory work in "Grasping the Democratic Peace," which is one of many reasons why it is shredded by realists, Bruce Russett created a limited definition of what constitutes a "war."

As you might've guessed, it was designed to fit the theory.

Sugar daddy au with a twist where Yoongi is a producer just starting out, and while he's happy he took the risk, he's struggling to make ends meet, often having to rely on his friends for help. They really don't mind since it's never anything much, food mostly, and they love him.
But Yoongi's unhappy with it, doesn't like mooching off his friends, so one night when he's been sulky after having to share Hoseok's dinner instead of buying his own again, Hobi's trying to cheer him up and jokes about how Yoongi should just become a sugar baby.
And Yoongi laughs, because that's ridiculous, he doesn't feel comfortable sharing his body for money and honestly would prefer to be the daddy if he had the money to do something like that anyway.

THREAD: there is no one way to be a writer, no one way to tell a story, no one way to do this thing we do as a hobby or as a job or as an art form. Some write a little every day, in an office; some write a lot at one time at varying, sporadic points. It's all okay.
I think it's important to challenge all pieces of "Known Writing Advice," all those chestnuts of Vital Lore, and to see what they are and what works for you. We all have our own weird fingerprints to imprint upon this thing we do.
I think it IS important to talk about the things you do and the processes you use to write and tell a story and to hold them up and examine them -- share them with others, and listen to their ways of doing things, too.
