I can see why it’s popular in China...cheap and poor quality. Because the Chinese demand a “partnership” with every company manufacturing in China, I’ll be laughing when they clone an even crappier version to sell to their masses.

Imagine US citizens making US cars to sell to the rest of the world instead of in China & Mexico. Ford & GM build these vehicles in other countries to get around their punitive tariffs and other trade barriers like currency manipulation and the NAFTA loophole.

The US Dollar is the defacto world currency. Everything (especially oil) is traded in Dollars, not Yuan or Pesos. Imagine if Venezuela was manufacturing vehicles for export. thebalance.com/world-currency…
However, if Venezuela had an assembly line for their vehicles in the US, they could probably still do business and the profits would flow back to Venezuela.
This is the main reason for having foreign companies building vehicles here in the US. Ultimately, their profits in US Dollars go back to their home country.
This imbalance of foreign competition based upon punitive trade deals against American companies is what Trump is trying to fix. America can indeed compete in a world economy if the playing field is level.
