I have been asked to recommend some non-mediocre books. I know many of you are very young, so here are

10 BOOKS YOU SHOULD READ BEFORE YOU'RE 30

Preferably, much earlier than that. If you're not this young... what are you waiting for to read these books??
1) To be anything, you need to create value, and for that you need skills.

This is the best book I know on how to engineer a career path that feeds you total domination on the skill front and gives you freedom.

2) To be effective in the world, you need to understand how the world works - especially how it's trying to kill you ALL THE TIME.

You will re-read this book many times as you discover more of its hidden implications. Great investment.

3) Maybe not as entertaining and appealing as @RobertGreene's other works, but the only book I know that gives you a full treatment of the lifelong path to Mastery.

4) You want to start a company? Don't waste your time with business school.

ZERO 2 ONE is the best book to get the big picture of how real business really works. Incredibly concise, incredibly effective.

5) This is the "inside story" companion of Peter Thiel's 0-2-1. It's the closest you can get to running a company without actually having one - and it's funny.

If you will read a book before you start a business, especially tech, it better be this one.

6) The very best book to get intro exposure to the Power of Mind - from someone who isn't me. And it's great for kids, too.

I wanted to expand that thought, so the next two tweets are my initial blabber, then there will be FRESH THREAD MEAT!

0. so i archived and downloaded my tumblrs last night, and i'm having . . . some feelings about it. strap in, friendos, this is secretly two threads stacked on top of each other in a giant trenchcoat here we go
1. i am not going to pretend that tumblr was perfect. *l-rd* no, that site had its problems, ranging from the tedious "we can't get rid of Nazis" moderation to the porn bots to the vicious callout culture with zero room for error and zero chance to apologize and grow
2. but it wasn't exclusively a shitshow, and i do feel a deep sense of grief for its impending destruction. for all its faults, tumblr was a hugely important social space for me, in no small part because of the adult content that they're now trying to wipe from the site

This "by page X, Y has to happen" thing has destroyed many careers before they even start, in my opinion. Same with so called "plot points," whatever they are. Because it makes you think the structure of a screenplay is some externally-applied map, when it fact it's not at all.
I don't know what a plot point is, & I've never consciously used one. And the only thing that hitting certain pages means to me is that I need to be aware not to let my story drag or to become too indulgent. With that said (and forgive me if what follows drags or is indulgent!)..
A script's structure grows out of its own internal DNA. Your job is to asses what the organic rules are for that specific script. It's like parenting. Your job is not to turn your child into "every child," it's to help them grow to be the best manifestation of whoever they are.

Brewing coffee. Going on 4 hrs sleep. I will continue that dig I was posting live in the middle of the night. It goes MUCH DEEPER. I just need to oil the wheels and get the brain churning at full speed. Might take a few minutes.😂
Side note: This was not on my to-do list today. 🤣 I am contemplating finishing this dig and putting it into article format and then posting it in here, because I suspect this goes pretty deep based on a few more things I've dug up this morning.
I am pondering out loud. If I do that, I can contain all of the info in one lasting location and post the article to the thread I already have going in here. Probably the wisest idea. Gosh darn, I had other digs I was planning to complete today, but this is BIG. I must continue.

So there was a MYSTERY at the library today.

A wee old women came in and said "I've a question. Why does page 7 in all the books I take out have the 7 underlined in pen? It seems odd."
"What?" I say, thinking she might be a bit off her rocker. She showed me, and they did.
I asked if she was doing it, she said she wasnt and showed me the new book she was getting out that she hadnt even had yet. It also had the 7 underlined! "I don't know, maybe someone really likes page 7?" I said, assuming of course that there is a serial killer in the library.
I checked some other books. Most didn't have it, but a lot in this genre did - they're "wee old women" books (romances set in wartime Britain etc). Lots of underlined 7s. The woman who pointed it out shrugged and went on her way, "just thought you should know".
