My wife was diagnosed with cancer five years ago.

With insurance we paid $13,000 out of pocket each year for three years.

Without insurance the final bill would have been $657,432.

People should not have to choose between bankruptcy or death.

Vote Blue to save lives. 🇺🇸
Friends I want to thank you for your replies here.

I’m seeing that this isn’t just MY story. It’s OUR collective story.

We are trying to enjoy our lives, our friends & family & this big beautiful world.

Yet the cost of illness is crippling.

I’m sending love & hope to you all.
During my wife's cancer treatment I saw this couple across the way.

He held her hand the entire time she was getting her infusion. Never let go.

It made my heart smile & I took a pic. He saw me do it.

He winked at me & gestured.

I took my wife's hand.

He nodded approvingly

2/ I’m listening to my Spotify playlist and a song came on called You Were Born (link below.) It begins, “You were born into a strange world. Like a candle you were meant to share the fire. I don’t know where we come from. I don’t know where we go.”
3/ My great-grandparents were first-year immigrants. They came from Poland looking for a better life. They didn’t speak English. In fact their accents were so poor that the translation by immigration officers at Ellis Island actually altered our family name.

I made some 1st cup of coffee statements about being unenthusiastic about single payer as long as insurance companies are involved.

I wanted to expand that thought, so the next two tweets are my initial blabber, then there will be FRESH THREAD MEAT!
