Disappointed in the responses from some brothers to this thread. You should be able to read my perspective & have a respectful disagreement. It seems like modesty as a concept is dead to some of you beyond the rulings of halal & haram.
People talk about hijab & modesty like they're synonymous bc hijab is a clear ruling that promotes modesty. But modesty is more than fiqh, and a big part of it is having wisdom & good judgement of context. Things can be permissible but not the most modest. Context matters.
If a man was shirtless in a masjid or place of business, that would generally be considered immodest in most circumstances, even if his awrah was covered. If he was on the beach or participating in some relevant activity, however, it may not be immodest. Context matters.
My argument is that in the context of social media, the average person shouldn't be posting workout videos & pictures to the public. Stop bringing examples from outside that context to try "disproving" the point. It's not about halal & haram. It's about working towards an ideal.
Also, the funniest response to this thread has been brothers asking me, "Well what's your opinion on women sharing pictures with their face in it?" Dude, stop trying to divert the convo & make women the subject. Let's keep it centered on what men can do better.
It's ironic that some men who do the bare minimum Islamically think the level of their modesty & faith shouldn't be put to question, but they have no issue questioning the modesty & faith of women who are less than perfect with their outfits. It reeks of hypocrisy & misogyny.
Some men are responding to this topic by spam-posting their workout videos, some including the hashtag #TriggerWarning.

How is that any different from women posting things that aren't haram but that men say are immodest & a fitna, then laughing about triggering "Twitter Akhs"?
Fwiw, I didn't say workout content should never be posted. My comments are for people who want to perfect their modesty. There is benefit to take from experts & people sharing their journey, even if it's not the most modest thing to do, but we should know what the ideal is.
