Went the rounds today with our ward councillor to distribute food kits to flood affected families (those who’ve returned home bec the water has receded), in a mostly working class neighbourhood. After handing out the kits in a few homes we came to a middle class+ looking house+
+and the volunteers were a little hesitant thinking “this house kinda looks rich, will they be offended if we offer a food kit?”. So we checked with the ward councillor who said yes they’re affected as well, they need to be given a package like everyone else.
+ Still hesitant, we knocked the door and the family was basically almost in tears when they thanked everyone for the package. Apparently, their home was under 8ft water and everything was trashed - furniture, utensils, documents, cash, home appliances, two wheeler..
+Its kind of stating the obvious,but when a goddamn river floods an entire place, it doesn’t cherry pick victims. It trashes everything.
And then you see yet another post / tweet from yet another shithead who thinks all these people deserve this for eating beef etc.
Mood = Hulk.
