#Brexit rentrée today - what are the objectives for @dominraab and @OllyRobbins?
There are two main objectives for UK side
The most important is to stop @michelbarnier and European Commission totally killing off the Chequers white paper
The fear is that if Barnier kills off Chequers than he will trap or lock the UK into a process where the commission is the one writing the future framework
The second, related objective, is to try and break the commission’s stranglehold on the negotiating process by engaging EU27 governments more directly outside existing Article 50 structures of officials where Barnier has whip hand
Raab/Robbins strategy is in trouble as Barnier wrapped up before the summer by shooting down UK customs proposals and briefing EU27 governments against the Chequers white paper
