A reminder that @Kaepernick7 began kneeling during the national anthem in 2016 after talking with former Green Beret and brief NFL long snapper Nate Boyer, who supports Colin.

The Star Spangled Banner was born in the War of 1812. Francis Scott Key, the author of the poem in 1814, owned slaves.

The third verse “claims that the ‘foul footsteps’ of the slaves who fought on the side of the British have polluted America.”
