So funny: @NYMag actually published an article claiming the US has long been meddling in Latin America & supporting dictators **in orders to promote democracy** there. When @aaronjmate & others noted the hilarity, they changed it describe the real motives of US "meddling":
Regarding #meddling, you can watch William Buckley & Noam Chomsky argue in 1969 about the countless places the US bombed, invaded & "meddled" to change other countries' governments. Nobody denied the US did it: debate was whether US did it out of love
I can't wait to watch historians a few decades from now grapple with how to explain that the US media got Americans to view themselves as the victims of #meddling rather than all-time world champions and contemporary pioneers of it: in the most extreme & malicious forms.
