OT: The secluded farmhouse where I’m staying lost power last night during a storm. I assumed power was out in the whole area, but while hunting candles in the pitch-black basement of the now-creepy, 200-year-old house, the power company texted that my house was the only one...
...as my dogs howled and the thunder boomed, it occurred to me that this was pretty much the opening of almost every horror I had ever seen.
Like any self-respecting city gal, I raced up the stairs to the third floor [stopping at the kitchen to grab a bottle of wine] and locked myself – and my howling dogs – into the bedroom and set the security alarm. As horror movies dictate, the battery on my phone was almost dead.
Thankfully, my laptop had a little juice so I used it to charge my phone AND my kindle – which I thought was a brilliant solution until...
...a friend mansplained to me this morning that I could have just used my car to charge all my dead devices.

Pfft. Amateur.
"I'll just wander into the stormy night armed with nothing but a dead cell phone, trek across an empty field to the isolated, detached garage, hop into my unlocked, completely dark car and charge my electronic devices."
Needless to say, I survived the night and by morning my power was restored. Things always seem better in the morning, don't they?
I hope you've enjoyed Story Hour with Polly Sigh, but sadly, this ends your brief respite from the real horror story: IT [better known as Trump].
