Latest @nytimes editorial on Venezuela makes clear the NYT will cheer opponents who shoot their way into power - exactly as the NYT did in 2002 when a US-backed coup briefly deposed Hugo Chavez, the democractially elected president. CONT'D.... 
The NYT's premise that "Mr. Maduro is an illegitimately elected leader " is nonsense. Maduro cruised to victory in key recent elections because the opposition's insurrectionary leadership bet on the formula of abstain, delegitimize, then seize power thru a coup or US invasion
An opposition presidential candidate, Henry Falcon, who defied the boycott, was threatened by USA with sanctions and slandered by his own side who said he cut a secret deal to be Maduro's VP. Falcon timidly opposed US economic sanctions on Venezuela which are very unpopular
The opposition (encouraged so completey by western estbliashment to be intranisgent and inssurectinoary) repels a substancialt [part of the population (at least 1/3) who are solidly beind the government and many more who reject violence and US economic sanctions
Anyway, continuing on with the NYT editorial, it tries to give the impression it is being honest about the US "interventions" in Latin America in the 20th century. It wasn't. See my note in the graphic. It also ignored US backed coups in 21rst century......
The 2002 coup n Venezuela which the NYT applauded in an even less inhibited way than the Bush administration. Unsurprising NYT wld avoid mentioning that one. Then the was the US-PERPETRATED coup in Haiti 2004 when US troops kidnapped the democratically eletced president. Then...

The editorial is also dishonest in referring to Trump's sanctions as "targeted sanctions on Mr. Maduro and his cronies" which, even if they were, are illegal under US and int'l law. In Augist of 2017 Trump abandonned always flimsy pretext of sactions targetted only on officials
