I've been away for a week. Making my way through the inbox on the train in, and it's reminder after stark reminder that the JLR and BMW stories are the tip of the iceberg.

Here's just a hint of what's going on in the business world right now (1/4)
In just the first few emails I've read about:
🔸️ UK firms contacting EU customers warning they reserve the right to not make any deliveries from April 19
🔸️ EU firms contacting UK suppliers stating they'll only deliver to addresses within the EU from the start of March (2/4)
🔸️ UK firms trying to stockpile but struggling to find temperature-controlled warehousing
🔸️ SMEs (paper mills to bakeries) panicking post-no deal notices reaching out for help even starting to get ready
🔸️ Huge concerns about cashflow next year cropping up everywhere (3/4)
Got to sort the backstop.
Got to get the Withdrawal Agreement sorted.
Got to get the treaty through the UK parliament.
Got to get the treaty through the EU parliament.
All before the economic consequences of this uncertainty escalate further (4/4)

It's undeniable that there's been a big shift in businesses coming out to talk about Brexit, to warn against the dangers of no deal or a hard Brexit. As someone who's spoken to about 50 firms about this already this week, I'm often asked why.

Here are some answers 1/4
Why businesses are speaking on Brexit now:
A. Contingency plans. Big firms have made their 'no regrets' decisions are now having to press go on expensive regretful decisions, spending money on things like warehouses and customs staff

B. Investment. Brexit is no longer just pausing pre-ref investment decisions but putting off new ones. The baseline scenario for calculating profitability is no deal
C. Transition. Both sides failed to guarantee sensible transition in case of no deal so no trust it happens

1. The gut response to that question from most normal people is, “Must be leftist deep-pocket guys like Soros and Steyer.”

Thing aren't rainbows and unicorns for Omega Park Jimin. He is broke, left alone, hates his job, and fails to win the dance off he's been preparing for months. The only thing that can keep him happy is nesting and its new addition - a sweater from an unknown Alpha
Jimin heaved a big sigh, heavy and weary. The Omega was stressed and extremely upset. He was dragging his legs across the pavement, completely ignoring the drizzling rain that soon turned into a heavy summer rain.

Making my way through the Carter Page FISA application. First thing that jumps out: They went straight for “knowingly engages in clandestine intelligence activities”; I’d thought they might have leaned on the “aids or abets” definition of a foreign agent.
“The FBI believes that the Russian Government’s efforts are being coordinated with Page and perhaps other individuals associated with Candidate #1’s campaign.”
Significant amount of redacted information pertaining to Page’s pre-2016 ties to Russia & Russian intelligence. Implies they think he was recruited years ago, but impossible to assess the evidence for that.
