おっす! Today's @bopinion post is about the third term of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and how Japan can build on its recent economic successes!

bloomberg.com/view/articles/…
Japan's economy has actually been doing fairly well since the year 2000 - no "lost decades" in the new millennium!

But it's been doing especially well in recent years, under Abe.
Thanks to this economic success, rumors of Abe's political demise have been greatly exaggerated.

As long as the economy keeps humming, Abe or his allies seem likely to remain in power.
So what should Abe do now, in his third term?

He should continue focusing on fixing Japan's outdated corporate system.
Item #1 to fix: MID-CAREER HIRING.
Item #2 to fix: WORK-LIFE BALANCE.
Item #3: GENDER EQUALITY.
There are lots of other things Abe could do as well. But these three items are the biggest.

Don't ignore Japan, folks. It's a rich-world success story in an age with few rich-world success stories.
