Beach Week was legendary back in Winter Park, FL where I grew up. HS students, generally sophomores+, would go to New Smyrna Beach, rent $29.99 a night hotel rooms that a parent or an 18 yo student paid for. Kegs, hard liquor, beer bongs until passing out. Rape happened. Often.
We didn't call it rape. Girls were targeted because they were outsiders trying to fit in or had a bad reputation for being loose affixed to them by others, including girls (sometimes just bc she was very busty). No one reported. Victims became pariahs. Boys were unscathed
Girls blamed themselves for being drunk and others dogpiled on to make sure she knew she was trash for "making this happen".

15 to 18 year olds. Unsupervised. Pass out drinking. It was an annual ritual. Our yearbooks had day photos of us on the beach. Never the night parties.
So these women who came out in support of Kavanaugh probably were the "respectable" or popular girls who these boys would never touch. They don't know what these boys were doing while they were booed up with their boyfriends. Their testimony means squat.
Perpetrators often choose those who
A. Are unlikely to be believed because their social value was less than their rapist.
B. Often insecure or troubled.
C. Not a member of their core group.

Charges were never filed because "being taken advantage of" was not seen as criminal
I know these things to be true because I was a student in the early 80s who attended a predominantly middle-class high school with affiliations to the "rich kids" at Winter Park High.

I attended ONE Beach Week (it COULD be 2).

I never went again.
