The Senate request was for the FBI to investigation “credible allegations.” There are no “credible allegations.” Nevertheless, President Trump authorized the supplemental investigation as requested. (6/9)

If fairly conducted, this “supplemental investigation” could have been over yesterday. The Senate Judiciary Committee requested that the FBI investigation take no more than a week. This will not satisfy the Leftists trying to destroy Judge Kavanaugh. (7/9)

McConnell claims that instance of an election-year SCOTUS appointment doesn't count because-- while a Democratic Congress *did* confirm the GOP nominee -- it was originally a recess appointment and the formal confirmation didn't happen until early 1957.
This has all been part of a series of steadily shifting goalposts.

The original claim was that there hadn't ever been an election-year confirmation of a Supreme Court nominee, which was just flatly untrue.
Then the claim that there hadn't been an election-year nominee confirmed *by an opposition party* which was, of course, refuted by William Brennan and Anthony Kennedy.

Brennan was waved away on the grounds above.

I'm a sociologist who studies adolescent sexual violence. On this thread, I will be live tweeting the #Kavanaugh hearing, chiming in with sociological insights and research findings.
Full disclosure--I will probably step away for parts of it. While many conservatives have cast feminists as people who rejoice at allegations of sexual assault against powerful men, this is a painful process for us. We know survivors. We are survivors. And I will need breaks.
It does not bode well that the beginning of this hearing is starting with equating #Kavanaugh and #Ford's experiences with harassment following Dr. Ford's allegations. They are absolutely not the same.
