"The Democrats’ last-minute Christine Ford allegations push America deeper into the political abyss. But President Trump has some declassifying in mind."

Sen. John Kennedy: “I’m fairly confident that our Founding Fathers did not intend the process to work this way,” said Kennedy of the Kavanaugh hearings.

"'The only thing missing was the genitalia-shaped headgear' among the multitudes of protesters the Democrat members of the committee invited to the hearings."

And that was BEFORE Monday’s Duke Lacrosse-style news explosion, in which a cryptic letter alleging high school hijinks involving Kavanaugh was fleshed out and an accuser named.

Kennedy may have been overstating the case as an intergalactic freakshow on Sunday morning; 24 hours later his description is insufficient.

"Does anyone actually believe Christine Blasey Ford? It’s clear Feinstein, the hypercorrupt, decrepit CA Senator whose shady dealings with the Chinese government and suspect staff employment practices might well have put government secrets at risk, didn’t really believe her. "

"Feinstein had Ford’s letter almost three months ago and didn’t enter it into the committee’s bloodstream until late last week when the hearings were complete and none of the Democrats’ more substantive attacks on the Supreme Court nominee had borne fruit. "

"And none of the talking heads in the national media believe Ford’s story either. That’s not to say Ford’s story doesn’t have tellers. Of course it does."

"The Left wants to kill Kavanaugh’s nomination, because they believe Democrats will retake the Senate and thus kill any SCOTUS nominees Trump — who they believe they will successfully impeach, despite the obvious futility of such an exercise — might send to the Senate"

"Ford’s story, is impossible to believe. Ford, a psychology professor at an insignificant school — Palo Alto University, which appears to be mostly an online graduate school for shrinks — is a Hard Left activist who was silent about these allegations for more than 35 years..."

She alleges "she had recovered a memory of them in couples therapy in 2012. That just happened to be when Kavanaugh’s name first surfaced as a potential Supreme Court nominee had Mitt Romney won the presidency."

Ford offered no corroboration of her story, and alleged that two boys — Kavanaugh and Mark Judge, who is now a writer living in Washington, D.C. — held her down and groped her at a house party at an indeterminate date apparently some time in 1982.

"Ford’s attorney, another leftist activist named Debra Katz haf a history of trashing Bill Clinton’s accusers in the 1990s and who more recently defended Al Franken, but is now an earnest advocate for purported victims of sexual assault."

"There isn’t even a pro forma effort to make this story believable.

Because it doesn’t matter if it’s believable. The Democrats and the Left don’t care whether anyone believes them. What you believe isn’t important — it’s what THEY believe that counts."

"And THEY believe they’re going to win this fall’s midterms and claim control of the House and Senate. And when they do what you believe will be of no importance whatsoever."

"The question is whether the American people will tolerate this.

The guess here is the American people won’t.

But here’s a theory — which is that Feinstein’s gambit could be a death knell for her party’s dreams of retaking the Senate."

Why? Well, if you’re Joe Manchin, Jon Tester, Heidi Heitkamp or Claire McCaskill what you needed was a quiet Kavanaugh confirmation vote in which the outcome was a foregone conclusion.

You represent a red state your re-election in depends on your ability to call yourself a swing vote not bound by ideologies, and therefore you’d ideally like to vote for Kavanaugh’s confirmation in the knowledge that he was going to be confirmed anyway.

You can sell that to Democrat voters back home on the basis that your vote did no harm and established a negotiating position to deliver roads and bridges and other goodies from the federal treasury.

But thanks to Feinstein, the Kavanaugh vote now becomes a take-no-prisoners affair, and Democrat voters back home won’t excuse a “yes” vote.

But worse than that, the majority-Republican electorates in Missouri, West Virginia, and similar states will demand that “yes” vote and be ready to deliver severe punishment if that confirmation fails due to Manchin’s or Heitkamp’s “no.”

It’s a disaster in the making, particularly if Ford comes off as an unhinged loon when she testifies in front of the Judiciary Committee on Monday — which is perfectly likely.

ne other matter which could end up impacting the Kavanaugh confirmation is Trump’s announcement Monday that he was declassifying some key documents involving the investigation of his supposed Russian collusion.

This has the air of a political nuclear warhead exploding in Washington, as these are the documents which reputedly prove Trump guilty of collusion.

Except now that Trump is declassifying them and ordering them disseminated to the public free of redaction, the Democrats who have touted them (like @RepAdamSchiff) as damning are screaming their objections.
