Gov. Jerry Brown signed a stack of gun control bills on Friday, including a proposal that raises the minimum age for buying rifles and shotguns from 18 to 21. lat.ms/2OkT8hN
Another new California law imposes lifetime firearm bans on people convicted of serious domestic violence charges, as well as those who have been hospitalized more than once in a year for mental health problems. lat.ms/2OkT8hN

Gov. Jerry Brown has requested a Presidential Major Disaster Declaration, citing the devastating fires burning in Northern and Southern California.

From Brown’s request: If granted, a Presidential Major Disaster Declaration would make individuals in the impacted counties eligible for a number of programs and support, including crisis counseling, housing and unemployment assistance and legal services.
The declaration would also help state, tribal and local governments with ongoing emergency response and recovery, including the repair and replacement of disaster-damaged facilities and infrastructure, including roads, bridges and utilities.

Great question. "Ballot Harvesting" is when activists collect ABs from voters and drop them off at a polling or election location. Of course it's ripe for fraud. But it's also completely legal in California now, and worse.

Here's why California is different...
California Gov. Jerry Brown signed AB 1921, which not only legalizes ballot harvesting, but makes it much easier. Now, any third-party can harvest, instead of previous requirement for a HH member or relative. No need, an activist will handle that for you, even if you didn't vote.
Here's ballot harvesting. In California, this may not have safeguards, but it's now legal.

Of course, "half of ballots mailed" weren't "lost" last election. That's a scare tactic. And she's just "showing you how to fill out" the ballot.

1. This is the story about a real-world "Elysium" — a state which has the highest levels of poverty & inequality in the country but whose residents have convinced themselves that they are behaving ethically, protecting the environment, and fighting racism.
2. Everyone believes California is our most progressive state. And why not? It imposes the highest tax on the richest one percent. It is aggressively implementing Obamacare. And it is standing up to President Donald Trump on everything from immigration to the environment.
3. And yet the Golden State is also number one in poverty & inequality. How can this be? Around the world, progressive nations like Sweden and France, which redistribute wealth through high taxes and generous social welfare policies, boast of less inequality than other nations.
