“10-15 years ago no one knew what quinoa was” is the kind of horseshit that totally erases the millions of people for whom it’s been a staple food basically forever.

Translated: if you knew about quinoa then, you were nobody. Same now for breadfruit and teff, apparently.
Soon the same people who freaked out and sobbed about the notion that I grew up eating cuy will be like “it’s so efficient to have guinea pigs eat your vegetable waste so you can have small meat meals!” Like they invented the idea. (More)
Because it’s gross when brown ppl eat something, but hip, edgy, forward thinking, and cool when mainstream white people in the developed world do it.

The whole point is: white culture wants white people not to eat with other cultures lest they realize everyone’s human.
