In new court filing, DOJ admits Commerce Secretary Wilbur ROSS remembers Steve BANNON calling him to put him in touch with GOP voter suppression impresario Kris KOBACH about adding a citizenship question to the census. ag.ny.gov/sites/default/…
At the time, I believe, Kobach was also leading the presidential commission established to give credibility to the President’s evidence-free lie that millions had voted illegally to cost him the popular vote.
The addition of a citizenship question to the decennial census is widely expected to suppress response rates among households with noncitizen members, thereby artificially reducing the representation of states with many such households in Congress.
Props to @dale_e_ho's team who got DOJ's new admission (about Bannon calling Ross to put him in touch with Kobach) TODAY, only four hours before their Supreme Court deadline, and managed to fully embed it in their brief. supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/18/1…
