2/ As of 2016 (the latest year for which we have comprehensive data), there were only 1.2 million families in the entire country in which someone received TANF benefits, and in over 1/2 of these NO adult received a benefit--only a child or children did...
3/ In 80% of those families, there were only 1 or 2 kids, btw, not the 5-10 that liars, fools and racists like to conjure, especially for black families receiving aid...
4/ In all there were only 2.7 million people actually receiving benefits, of which only 637,000 were adults. The rest were kids...and no there weren't a bunch of teenage parents younger than 18 (thus, kids but also parents). Only 23,000 of these, or 0.85 percent of the total...
5/ Of adults receiving aid, 31% are black, meaning that there were fewer than 200,000 black adults in the entire country on cash aid. Since there are approximatey 30 million black adults in the U.S., this means fewer than 0.6 percent of black adults get cash aid, 99.4% don't...
6/ Of kids who receive aid, 28% are black, amounting to about 590,000 black children in all. Since there are about 10 million black children in the U.S., this represents about 6 percent who get TANF benefits, so 94% of black kids do NOT, contrary to popular belief...
7/ While most TANF recipients also get SNAP (food stamps) and Medicaid coverage, most SNAP and Medicaid recipients do NOT also get cash, and only 1 in 9 cash beneficiaries gets housing assistance of any kind...
8/ And the monthly average amount receive in TANF benefits for recipient families, as of 2016 was about $370 per month (typically for a family of 3)...
9/ Sadly, many are locked in2 a narrative about how they just "know" welfare dependence is a growing problem, and the norm for black people...and that most black folks receive "handouts"...But facts don't care about your feelings snowflakes. How bout Google some shit next time?
