/ Sometimes it's just not worth trying to explain a tweet to folks, and if you have to explain it, it's like explaining a joke...it didn't land correctly. Fine. So I've taken down the tweet about the asshole kid from Columbia who went on a racist manic rant...
/ I did NOT dox him or ask any1 else to. I did not call 4 anyone 2 harass him. I feel there should b consequences -- academic conduct code & professional consequences -- 4 his behavior. He is free to be an asshole and take his chances in the marketplace of ideas...
/ But if I have to constantly explain the plain meaning of what I was saying because my use of the term "wreck him" was taken as a call for violence (despite the obvious context of the full tweet), then it's not worth the misunderstanding...
/ I stand by the belief that people who do racist shit on camera should suffer consequences for that. It speaks not just to racism but piss poor judgment that employers and schools might want to know about...it calls into question the character of the person in question...
/ And it is valid for employers and schools to think about the character of the people they employ and admit and allow to matriculate...But I certainly wish the asshole no physical harm or harassment via phone, mail, or anything else...Glad we had this talk
