Annual Race Will Impact Capitol Complex on Sunday, October 28, 2018

The running of the 43rd annual Marine Corps Marathon will occur on Sunday, October 28, 2018. In order to ensure the safety of the approximately 24,000 runners expected to participate in event,
there will be several street closures throughout the Capitol Grounds beginning at approximately 6 a.m.
The United States Capitol Police will implement traffic cuts and street closures as necessary throughout the day. All street closures and times are subject to change. Motorists will likely encounter delays and are encouraged to seek alternative routes.
Road closures will include:

• Pennsylvania Avenue between Third Street, NW, and First Street, NW

• First Street NW/SW, between Pennsylvania Avenue, SW, and Constitution Avenue, NW

• Maryland Avenue, SW
Tour buses that normally drop off passengers at Peace and Garfield Circles will be redirected to the intersection of First Street, NW, and Louisiana Avenue, NW, and the intersection of Washington Avenue, SW, and Independence Avenue, SW, during the race.
The traffic restrictions throughout the Capitol Grounds are expected to be lifted at approximately 1 p.m.
