“The reality is that even if we agree to the notion of birthright citizenship … there is no way you could extrapolate that to people who came here without consent. The key words are ‘consent’ and ‘sovereignty.’ Nothing ever supersedes that.

2) In1920, the Tavistock Institute of Medical Psychology (TIMP) was founded. It was involved in psychotherapy, and psychiatrists at the Tavistock Clinic wanted to apply their findings to the general public in the form of certain social service programs.
3) John Rawlings Rees (who would be a co-founder of the World Federation for
Mental Health in 1948) was Deputy Director of Tavistock at this time (he would
become Director in 1932).

Today @realDonaldTrump sent a letter to congress along with a slideshow presentation by Sec. Nielson. This presentation was to be given during the meeting on the 2nd, but cryin Chuck kept interrupting it- so POTUS has given it to everyone in congress. whitehouse.gov/articles/presi…

Let's think about "Executive Orders" (EO) in the context of "Birthright Citizenship".

An "Executive Order" (Wiki) "has the force of Law.. subject to judicial review".

To pass "Judicial Review", it MUST NOT "lack support by statute or the Constitution".

In that context, what would the proposed EO do?

Some people think it will "TAKE AWAY" an existing RIGHT of Birthright Citizenship (BRC).

However, this first debate position presupposes that a 'right of Birthright Citizenship' actually exists because 'it has been PRACTICED'.
Other people think the EO will "correctly apply existing law" because there was A PERIOD OF TIME after the 14th Amendment when 'Birthright Citizenship' for non-Americans was NOT practiced with clarity.

This second debate position argues that BRC 'has been incorrectly practiced'

Trump called birthright citizenship a "crazy policy." Honestly, I'm ok with that (though I disagree). There's nothing wrong with policy disagreements, even constitutional ones, espeically policies that vary widely in the OECD world. Lots of fine democracies lack birthright. 1/
Indeed, there are plenty of policies set forth in our Constitution that *I* find to be essentially crazy. Minimum ages to run to office. The natural born citizen clause. The 3/4 state approval for amendments. You probably do too: many people hate state equality in the Senate. 2/
What I despise about Trump w/r/t birthright citizenship is twofold: first, his motivation for attacking it, which is essentially ethno-nationlist no matter how you spin it. Plenty has been written about this. As a politician, he's more or less a white supremacist. Gross. 3/

@realDonaldTrump I will be introducing legislation to deal with the issue of birthright citizenship for children of illegal immigrants -- in a prospective manner -- as I have always contended it has become a magnet for illegal immigration in modern times.

I’ll preface this brief rant on #birthright #citizenship by saying that, for personal, political and religious reasons, I do not identify as a Republican or a Democrat. I believe that as a Christian and pastor I must remain engaged — but not aligned.
Over the past decade, I have become increasingly selective about which issues I will weigh in on in a public forum. As a rule, I’ll avoid almost all discussions of electoral politics in the U.S. or in any of the other five countries in which I serve.
I do, however, feel completely free to discuss and debate policies and perspectives that affect orphaned and vulnerable kids, and I have praised — and criticized — politicians and pundits Democrat and Republican when they help or harm at-risk children.

We will realize how Tehran sought nuclear arms for decades. For a country sitting on an ocean of oil & gas, a "peaceful" nuclear program is meaningless.
