Sérgio Moro broke the law as judge, and then he benefited directly from the results of his law-breaking. There's a word for that, and it's corruption. 
This is the right way to talk about Sérgio Moro
By way of explanation for non-Brazilians: Sérgio Moro bent the rules, broke the law, while ruthlessly pursuing his investigations. As a judge, many people sort of gave him a pass (including, maybe especially, international media) as a "crusasding" anti-corruption warrior...
But those actions certainly helped to keep Lula (the favorite) out of this year's election. Whether or not Lula is guilty, and whether or not any of this was planned, Moro's appointment in January *is* a huge award he is receiving directly as a result of his own lawbreaking.
So when he accepted a huge position in Bolsonaro's government (despite his earlier promises never to do something like this) that changes the entire trajectory. You don't need to prove he wanted this benefit or planned it, simply that he got it. That is obvious in many countries.
As newspaper journalist, you never take any gifts (not even a coffee) from someone you are writing about. That's just conflict of interest. But, if I make a mistake, or lie, and it benefits someone I am writing about, THEN receive a huge gift afterwards, then wow. It's much worse
I would get in trouble for doing the first thing. If I did the second thing, I would be absolutely banned from journalism forever. And even if I didn't irrevocably distort the world's fourth-biggest democracy in the process.
