1/ Whatever else happened in this event w @Acosta By Far the most important thing is what happened next. The unadulterated, blatant lie put out by the WH as to what happened & then using that as pretext to make their [idiotic but effective] accusations of "Fake New" and
2/ the far worse provocation of the Press / Media as being the "Enemy of the People". It has always been there, always a trick they have used, but always a bit in the shadows. For some reason they felt emboldened to do it out loud and in the view of everyone.
3/ The audacity of the lie itself, and the certainty they must have felt that they are so well empowered that they do not even need to pretend they are telling the truth is .... not only astonishing - when we thought we could no longer be astonished - but deeply concerning.
4/ They (Trump as leader, Sanders as loyal enabler and lieutenant) must think they are immune from reality. That what was their base has become their believers. They must be certain there is nothing they can do/say that will stumble these people to actually look.
5/ This otherwise petty example is a most telling and informative example. In full view w every angle covered & recorded, and with multiple witnesses, most as yet uncaptured & uncowed into subservience to this WH/Admin, they provoke an incident, and then baldly lie about it.
6/ And folks like you are not moved in the slightest by the foundational violation, accepting today's talking points as proffered by the WH/Administration as your own: "Today's task soldiers: denigrate @Acosta & be sure to note that CNN is the worst media outlet"
7/ "How many fingers Winston?" Today the admin will say 4, holding up 5. Some will say, No,I see 5. Others will have already capitulated long before and will easily, and with complete sincerity, say and see 4. Tomorrow it may have to be different. It will be 3 but the reality 6.
9/ Anyone and everyone should be affected by what is happening. Even those, like yourself, who, maybe, try to look only at the policies you like & agree with and give every other pass to every other violation. Eventually, you have to acknowledge 'that was a lie'. Or not. Depends
10/ And while you, and me, and everyone is all up in arms about this most obvious display of deception, wonder about what is going on in the magician's hand...This is the real issue. What they are doing when attention is diverted? Insinuating loyalists into positions of power.
11/ The #1 impediment to the plan is an informed & enerized public. Thus the #1 strategic project is to delegitimize the press. I guess we are around step 5 in the process.
12/ Todays "Memory Hole" is this monolithic propaganda machine and the cynical willingness to use it. The only bulwark a free press. As has been known from the very beginning by the founders. Thus the sharp edge of the attack is exactly here: at the press. At facts. At truth.
13/ The prime objective is to so muddle the conversation w nonsense, outright lies, unsubstantiated accusations, events detached from facts, assertions of inscrutable points that tie to absolutely nothing so that the "news" is rendered mute.
14/ This is why, in the end,whatever you want to say about @Acosta, @Cnn or @jaketapper, @washingtonpost or @Nyt et al., it just so much cynical, but not benign, nonsense. The real story is the "trick" the magicians are pulling off in plain view, while you are looking elsewhere.
