/ Oh Oh Oh @JamesCleverly you are so clever. You foxed me with this brilliant question because you are so clever
/ I mean let’s breakdown how we get to your question and then what the answer might be
/ Leaving the EU was sold on the basis we would be better off than as an EU member
/ remember this
/ and this
/ and lo a narrow majority voted to leave the EU in 2016
/ and there was great excitement among MPs to make this happen. A majority of MPs, like kids whacked up on Haribo, votes to give the PM the power to decide by herself to trigger a two year clock
/ and because you MPs are geniuses you did not attach any safeguards or conditions to that power
/ and now two years on we get presented with a withdrawal deal that no one likes. It certainly does not make the UK better off and seems to involve a remarkable loss of sovereignty
/ Which is just hilarious because the Government in its white paper on Brexit made clear that the UK Parliament WAS ALWAYS SOVEREIGN
/ So Parliament will vote on this shitty deal that does not make us better off.

So what happens if it gets voted down?
/ Well Parliament could do nothing and fall back on deal.

But we keep being told there is no majority for that. Presumably because that out come is (1) shit and (2) not an outcome that makes us better off
/ That is to say no deal is so far away from what leavers promised and was rejected in the 2017 election that it should be off the table
/ But because you clowns attached no safeguards to triggering article 50 that is what happens automatically on 29 March 2019 unless something else is agreed
/ So the pressure is on for Parliament not to piss away sovereignty in the quest for retaining sovereignty it never lost.
/ So what are you options if the withdrawal deal is bad and no deal is terrible and you only have 4.5 months til the UK leaves (and remember currently Brexit has cost us £40bn a year - woohoo. Very clever)?
/ Well you could try to improve the deal but the EU just want this done and it needs to be voted on by the other 27 Parliament who also want to avoid no deal. So that option does not look viable
/ Or you could revoke article 50 because you can do that unilaterally (and I bet you a packet of haribo that the ECJ confirms that in the case you are desperately trying to close down)

That has the benefit of preserving the status quo rather than you trash the UK further
/ But it seems there is no majority for that in Parliament because that would be logical
/ So even though Parliament is sovereign and everyone knows what they were voting for the Brexit process is an omnishambles
/ So if Parliament won’t grow a pair it needs to go back to the people in some form.

But remember there is not long til 29 March so you would need to ask the EU for an extension to the article 50 process
/ And why should the EU do that?

Well they won’t offer that extension if it involves no deal or changing the withdrawal agreement because it does not help them
/ So the EU which is a bit smarter than our MPs will offer an extension on the basis of a public vote that is between the withdrawal agreement or remaining
/ Oh the irony of the UK potentially being limited in its referendum choices because of fucking up regaining sovereignty it never lost
/ So any way the vote becomes accept the withdrawal agreement or remain.

All of which to explain that your clever question does not actually arise because of the crappy way you handled Brexit
/ And if you think the choices are shit ask yourself why you triggered a two year clock with no plan or safeguards.

Your negligence got us here. A peoples’ vote offers you and us a chance to mitigate that negligence.
/ And so faced with our current predicament surely the question should be: given the mess of Brexit you have made why should we not get a further vote?
/ and if the majority vote for the withdrawal agreement in a further vote well then so be it and we will campaign to rejoin the EU.
/ But let me ask you @JamesCleverly would you put the withdrawal agreement to a public vote against the option of remaining?
and which of the two options would you vote for?
