Open borders, a dream to some & a nightmare for others. The good, the bad & the downright ugly when it comes to this contentious issue who are the winners & who will end up as the losers. Thread 1/12
It may surprise people to know I have changed my opinion about open borders over the years from when I was younger & more idealistic as with maturity comes greater understanding as well as access to information that was simply not available in my youth. 2/12
My self-imposed indoctrination towards open borders was built on first & foremost a deep-seated misunderstanding that all cultures like all people were created equal & secondly a deep-rooted desire only to see the good in others, my heart ruled my head. 3/12
I was brought up in a tolerant & loving household by parents who are both alive and still together, generous (when they could be). It was within this environment I thought open borders would be absolutely awesome. 4/12
The Cold War had ended & no-one had really heard of Islamic extremism except perhaps in regards to the Satanic Verses & the subsequent fatwa issued against Salman Rushdie. Over the years my beliefs & feelings, like those of my friends and family have all changed. 5/12
I learnt through bitter experience not all cultures are the same & there is no end to the Western indoctrination in schools & Universities who preach about inclusiveness & diversity without realising not everyone will be given the same childhood I was, everyone is born different.
This new liberal fascism demands total obedience to it in the West but it needs defeating. Teaching children biology is wrong and gender is fluid is disingenuous & is storing up mental health issues as transgenderism is wrong. 7/12
While the West has prided itself on tolerance even to the point of accepting the intolerant, what else can be done when our political class are in the pockets of big business & only care about cheap foreign workers. 8/12
In the Middle East children are also being indoctrinated by their teachers the difference is they are being taught to hate the West & want to destroy it & replace it with their own cultures & religion, we have seen the fear of our political class towards religious extremism. 9/12
This cowardice and appeasement of our self-serving politicians should have served as a warning to other even more 'Liberal' people but alas the fear of being labelled racist is all-conquering & until this alters, more will be sacrificed on the altar of multiculturalism. 10/12
The rich & powerful love the idea of open borders though - they will never become victims of its perniciousness as they lock themselves behind gated walls & are able to use globalisation to exploit cheap labour for the profit motive. 11/12
If we don't push back against this open borders madness, there will no longer be a Western working class and neither will there be a middle class either. If open borders enthusiasts want this future for the rest of us, they can expect to be reviled as the fascists they are. 12/12
