It’s also about autonomy

I transitioned 20yrs ago as a refugee from an intolerable boyhood & early manhood. I found women hugely supportive and transition transformed my life

They demand their ‘right’ to every women’s space, to re-define them, remove from them control of their spaces & boundaries, police their language and try to deny them the ability to talk about their own biology

Any dissent from their imposed view is treated as transphobic bigotry & women are demonised, threatened & hounded. We have words to describe this behaviour. These words are sexism and misogyny. We have NO right to female spaces or female specific rights

It’s time we look at providing 3rd spaces in prisons, DV shelters, rape crisis & public changing rooms/toilets. Some of these could, where practical & in addition to (as demanded) single sex space be spaces that transwomen & women who wish to share, do so together

Unless you’re given a significant prison sentence we spend 99% of our lives outside of the spaces under discussion, being treated as or taken to be

We’re talking about a tiny fraction of people’s lives where we build alternative but safe & dignified spaces that respect our transness as distinct from men & still enable full participation in society as equals. Otherwise the rights of women are completely undermined
