I can admit that I have, until recently, spent a great deal of time, within the safety of the cocoon I created for myself as a Black womAn from GA in the U.S.

I've always known, even as a child, that my well-being was directly tied to white supremacy and racism... 2/
what I wasn't aware of until recently, was how intimately connected my well-being and that of Black women was now being impacted by the decisions of tech leaders

There’s one thing that I can say about Twitter, there’s ALWAYS an opportunity for me to learn and to be challenged

I continue to grapple with the fact that ppl are complex and how to develop strategy that clearly defines where to draw my line

just because something gets published does not mean it is 'right' or 'good'. It means it has passed some minimum litmus test of 'quality' to become part of a conversation.
bad, wrong, poorly conceived, and faddish things are published all the time in different disciplines. In the best scenario, a poor paper inspires a more rigorous response and knowledge is advanced

Sigh. Just in case you need another reason to roll your eyes out of your head, some professors think "academic grievance studies" (read: race and gender studies) are ruining scholarship, so to prove it, they published a bunch of hoax papers.

I'm sure I don't need to explain why this is bullshit, but in case you don't feel like reading their whole article (which is smart of you), I present: Why This Is Bullshit.
First: They wrote 20 hoax papers. All 20 got rejected by all the top journals. Just seven managed to get published by obscure, less reputable journals. Sounds like academia is doing a fine job weeding out hoaxes from real research.

Truth be told, Comicsgate's direct predecessor, Gamergate provided the absolute best return for the alt-right in once again getting their reactionary and bigoted views into the marketplace to gain wide acceptance amongst disgruntled white and white-passing American men.
