Here’s a 2011 journal article on #whitefragility

Reminder that we are sitting on indigenous land
(White people are not taught our deep history) #WhiteFragility
This topic is inextricably linked with "White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack"

nationalseedproject.org/white-privileg…
At its root, what we are talking about is power combined with the challenge of understanding one’s own frame (before seeing another’s we have to understand our own). #WhiteFragility
“I love Seattle and everything I learned about #whiteFragility Iblearned from white progressives in Seattle!” Robin DiAngelo to widespread laughter
“We all have opinions but they can be uninformed.”
”We see ourselves as unique individuals, unaffected by the culture we live live.”
Racism is a system not an event.
#whiteFragility
“Historically we projected our ‘sins’ onto the black body”
This picture represents America.
“Jackie Robinson, the first black man that white people said could play baseball.” This is the truth.
“Racist is an individual who consciously does not like people based on race and is intentionally mean to them” - an impediment to discussing systemic racism
OMG she’s funny! Poking fun at our stereotypes #whiteFragility
Q: How do assumptions about race reflect mammalian mindless need for social hierarchy? Because we are not mindless (I’m thinking Maslow but self-actualization is hard work).
We must get “under the surface” and understand the hidden foundations of racism. Good/bad dichotomy. Internalized superiority. Implici bias. Segregation. Individualism.
These messages rain down on us 24x7 and we don’t have umbrellas ☂ #whiteFragility
The word sfae coming out of the mouths of white people on racism is not legitimate
Institutional power. Audience titters.

Sexism. Patriarchy.

White women don’t get a pass. Our resent of sexism can get in the way.
What has allowed you to remain ignorant about how to interrupt racism? Robin DiAngelo #whiteFragility
Racism is complex and multi-layered. Blinders exist and enable a feeling of safety. Bias is implicit/unconscious. It takes courage to break white solidarity. #whiteFragility
I’m from Seattle! I’m as conflict-avoidant as all of us!
That last was paraphrase of Robin. I clearly cannot type cleanly on the phone will listening-apologies for the typos in the thread.
Slate did a good job on the subject of #whiteFragility in 2016
