The greatest scientists have been inspired by Vedanta classics. This is because the Veda puts the subject smack in the middle of the scientific question.

The world is not merely dead particles swirling around; consciousness is the central mystery.

André Weil (1906 – 1998) famous for number theory & algebraic geometry claimed to have read the Bhagavad Gita in Sanskrit by age 16. Here’s his famous quote on discovery in mathematics:

"Nothing is more fruitful—all mathematicians know it—than those obscure analogies, ...

..."those disturbing reflections of one theory on another; those furtive caresses, those inexplicable discords; nothing also gives more pleasure to the researcher. The day comes when this illusion dissolves: the presentiment turns into certainty; .."

..."the yoked theories reveal their common source before disappearing. As the Gita teaches, one achieves knowledge and indifference at the same time."

Scientific and personal discovery comes from confronting the paradox of the Universal at the spot where we stand.

Weil was echoing Gita 2.52:

yadā te moha-kalilaḿ
buddhir vyatitariṣyati
tadā gantāsi nirvedaḿ
śrotavyasya śrutasya ca

When your intelligence has passed out of the dense forest of delusion, you shall become indifferent to all that's been heard and all that's to be heard.

The idea that the subject is central to science is emphasized in Veda.

महावाक्यानि:

प्रज्ञानं ब्रह्म || १ || prajnānaṃ brahma || 1 ||

अहं ब्रह्मास्मि || २ || ahaṃ brahmāsmi || 2 ||

तत्त्वमसि || ३ || tattvamasi || 3 ||

अयमात्मा ब्रह्म || ४ || ayamātmā brahma || 4 ||

We shouldn’t ignore the fact that Vedantic science like JC Bose’s was criticized by those who admit only a materialistic view of reality.

The emerging science of “consciousness” shows that this criticism is shallow and wrong.
