Fox Valley Faith Leaders Lead Witness and Protest
[Fox Valley, WI, December, 2018] Currently there are 14,000 migrant children being detained in the United States, away from their families, more than any other time in our history. More than 3,000 children and youth are now being held in Tornillo, Texas.

The number of children in the internment camp at Tornillo has rapidly expanded from the original 360 children detained there in June. Though only designed for short term use, the deadline keeps getting extended & the camp continues to grow by the day.

Leaders of two local congregations, the Fox Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship and the Winnebago Friends Worship Group (Quakers) will be travelling to the border to witness and protest the atrocity that is this camp.
These two groups are the only ones in the Valley that have declared themselves to be sanctuary congregations, or open to housing someone who is undocumented and at risk of deportation.
We welcome all to a local vigil in solidarity starting at noon on December 24 and will continue for 24 hours. Vigil information can be found here: facebook.com/events/1977717…
The Fellowship uplifted their commitment to this work on December 9, when they offered a short reflection on the message of Christmas: a human baby, a struggling family, and a message of solidarity and love.
In an effort to publicly proclaim their values, they have displayed three yard-signs that invoke both the traditional images of Christmas and timely reminders to each of us to keep working for peace and justice here on earth.
