In a country where women are seen as second fiddle, it is a sacrilege to advocate for their right to choose. It’s not an Islamic failing and has nothing to do with any religion, child marriage is an evil everywhere in Nigeria.

We usually make the common mistake that child brides is a common feature of the Northern region in Nigeria but it is a feature of the way of life of the impoverished people in a society. Child brides and child marriages happens everywhere in Nigeria.

Child marriage happens in Southwest Nigeria and South east Nigeria but it is more prevalent in the Northern region of Nigeria. To many of us we might think the issue of child marriage is ordinary but this is an issue that hinders freedom.

The absence of choice in marriage makes it an unholy institution and how can someone not matured enough in the ways of life be trusted to give consent to an event that can mar her choices for life? Child marriage has its obvious failings.
